Pattern book (86 Kbytes)

The pattern book -- one of a series of three that the museum holds -- shows a wide spectrum of dress and furnishing materials made of silk, which presumably were manufactured in the important silk factories of Lyon. The rapid change of the patterns and colors called for a protection against espionage, which was punish with high fines and corporal punishment. In 1787, the protection of the designs was set for 6 years.
