‘MuseUp im DHM’—The Tweetup for ‘The Desire for Freedom. Art in Europe since 1945’

It began with a short conversation on Twitter and a to-do-list for 2013 as the new year was just three weeks off.

An idea is born on Twitter

As it turned out, a creative alternative was quickly found: Why limit ourselves to just the inside space, which lacks wlan and cell phone reception, when we could simply go outside. A telephone call and a few meetings later, it was clear that we were going to be able to initiate the supposedly impossible Tweetups using creative alternatives.

Together with Roland Wagner from visitatio.de and Jenni Fuchs and her museum140, we will make our exhibition available as MuseUp throughout the German Historical Museum and its surroundings for the first time on 1 February around 4 P.M.

How? Thinking freedom, we will simply make the artworks available as QR codes in the Zeughaus and surroundings. A team member will present the objects in both German and English, with our users exchanging their impressions at Twitter hashtag #museup and people elsewhere reading the tweets.

If you need additional information about MuseUp / Tweetup, here is an excellent blog entry about ‘Tweeting in Museums’. And the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) has already taken up the phenomenon in: ‘Von Tweet zu Tweet.
