The last survivors want to recount their personal family histories with their own voice before they die in order to broach the anonymity of the collective memory. The film "B'Glal Hamilhama Hahi" ("Because of That War") opened the problem to the public in 1988 and led to discussions in families, schools and universities. In the film Halina Birenbaum and Jako Poliker tell their family stories.

As a thirteen year old, Halina Birenbaum escaped death in the gas chamber at the last moment; Jako Poliker lost his brother, wife and son in the concentration camp. The film documents the conversations in the families as they attempt to overcome the past. It also shows the need to repeat the stories again and again. The children of these survivors, the popular singer Yehuda Poliker and the well-known song composer Ya'akov Gilad, capture in their songs the traumata of their parents, from which they, too, cannot escape. On the cover of the CD is a racing train, a gate and a boy: the traumatic experiences and memories of the deportees.
