The online presentation offers adults, high school classes, and university students information on the conception and design of the exhibition. During a digital tour, participants are presented with key photographs, magazine clippings and posters, which are discussed together with the German Historical Museum's educational specialists. Participants receive an overview of the history of industrial photography and its use in representing production processes. The changing notions of progress in the coal, steel, chemical, textile, and automotive industries in the two German states from the postwar period to German reunification in 1990 are discussed and their differing visual languages examined. This examination is stimulated by the use of selected overviews of the exhibitions, object images and video sequences. Participants can contact the presenters directly with their questions via chat.

Digital presentations can be streamed either at home or in classrooms.
