The Zeughauskino

The Zeughauskino of the German Historical Museum presents special kinds of film series: programmes taken from all of film history, cross-sections according to thematic, historical or biographical aspects as well as cycles reflecting contemporary film cultures. Attention is paid above all to films, genres and periods that are barely or not at all well-known. The Zeughauskino shows rare works from the archives of the world that have seldom or never been seen in Germany, predominantly in their original version. Silent films – well-known, unusual, newly discovered or freshly restored – are accompanied by live music with pianists or ensembles.

The Zeughauskino is located on the east side of the Baroque Zeughaus building. The theatre, reopened after renovation in 2004, has room for 166 spectators.
