The tour introduces the exhibition’s central themes and informs visitors about the conceptualisation and design of the exhibition. It reveals entanglements between politics and art at the documenta exhibitions. The documenta organisers’ engagement with National Socialism, their division of the world into ‘East’ and ‘West’, political protests at the documenta and the popularisation of this international exhibition feature just as prominently as the artworks themselves.
