Daniel Biskup

Daniel Biskup was born in Bonn in 1962. He broke off his studies of politics and history in order to devote himself to photography. In 1982 his first newspaper photo was published on the cover page of the “Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung”, for which he continued to work freelance until 1990. A self-taught photographer, he concentrated, after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, on the radical transformations in East Germany, the Soviet Union and ex-Yugoslavia. His pictures bear witness to life and survival of the people after the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe. In recent years Daniel Biskup has portrayed prominent representatives of politics, culture and industry from around the world. His photographs are now published in newspapers, magazines and books in Germany and other European countries.
