TheDHM has a passepartout workshop where all paper objects, e.g., prints, original drawings, historical documents, photographs, or posters are prepared for exhibition. This is carried out in cooperation with the paper conservation department and other departments responsible for the exhibition design.

Displays, in particular, place high demands on the conservatorial protection of delicate objects, while at the same time, the display should achieve a precise and effective presentation. Special solutions for this purpose are developed in the passe-partout workshop. Important decisions range from the correct frame size, the optimal proportion between the frame and the object, and the museum card selected for the passe-partout. Through a protective glass glazing in the exhibition, the paper object can be presented to its full effect.
