The original uniform of Friedrich II (‘Frederick the Great’) of Prussia allows a consideration of Prussian state expansion and the royal conception of a sovereign rule based on “Prussian virtues”. The questioning of absolutist ideas by the champions of the enlightenment leads to epochal changes.
