The republic was also threatened from the right by a military putsch on March 1920. After the coup by General Lüttwitz and Wolfgang Kapp in March 1920, the SPD saw the stability of the republic threatened primarily by „reactionary“ powers. The SPD regarded “reactionary forces” as the principal threat to the stability of the republic. The coloring of the campaign poster expresses the SPD's unequivocal support for the black-red-gold republic.
