FilmDokument presents little-known, non-fictional works from German-language film history. The series takes into account a wide variety of documentary forms, working methods, and production contexts. The spectrum ranges from travel and interview films to reportages and portraits to compilation and archive films. Private and amateur films are shown alongside industrial, image, and university films. In close cooperation with the Federal Archive / Bundesarchiv and the Deutsche Kinemathek, the programs are curated and introduced by members of the CineGraph Babelsberg association. The aim is to assess non-fiction filmmaking in Germany in terms of its aesthetic diversity and historical significance.
