FilmDokument presents little-known, non-fictional films from different eras of German cinema history. The series takes into account very different documentary forms, working methods and production contexts. The spectrum ranges from travel and interview films to reportage and portraits to compilation and archive films. Private and amateur films are juxtaposed with industrial and image films as well as works produced at German film schools. In close cooperation with the Bundesarchiv-Filmarchiv and the Deutsche Kinemathek, the programs are curated and introduced by members of the CineGraph Babelsberg association. The aim is to capture non-fictional filmmaking in Germany in all its aesthetic diversity and contemporary historical significance.
