Gloria Swanson in a double role: she plays a spoiled theatre star and at the same time a young waitress in the provinces who desperately wants to become an actress. She even gets into a box fight to do it. In fact, Gloria Swanson could do it all: she embodied larger-than-life divas, ornery wives in romantic comedies, the klutz in turbulent slapstick films, always being flexible and spirited. This way she became Hollywood’s highest-paid film star of the 1920s. Stage Struck reveals all her comic and parodic skills: Kitsch and comedy, everyday life and the art world delightfully collide.
