The German national football team was the surprise winner of the 1954 World Cup final, defeating Hungary 3:2. The victory became known in the history of the sport as the "Miracle of Bern". The hero of the day was Helmut Rahn, who scored twice. Rahn signed this ball, as did coach Sepp Herberger, player Horst Eckel, and substitutes Bernhard Klodt, Heinrich Kwiatkowski, and Herbert Erhardt.
