Getting a Feel for History

Tours for the Visually Impaired and Blind

Blind and visually impaired visitors to the Deutsches Historisches Museum can explore the permanent exhibition in accessible tours and touch selected objects. The tours through the various epochs provide insights into the development of Germany from the time of Charlemagne to German reunification in 1990. The combination of hearing and touching enables blind and visually impaired guests to experience German history in a special way and take an active part in the discussion. Touching selected exhibits such as pieces of armour, marble busts and parts of the Berlin Wall gives blind and visually impaired guests the opportunity to ascertain information about the materials and craftsmanship and is a unique way to get a feel for history.
