Experience an impressive combination of music, art and science: in “Creation and Cosmos according to Hildegard of Bingen”, the universe of the famous Benedictine nun, scientist and composer Hildegard of Bingen is brought to life.
It is based on texts, music and images from her great work “Scivias”, which combines theology, nature observation and art. The programme guides us through the stages of creation and the “cosmic egg”, Hildegard's geocentric model of the universe, in which the sun, moon and stars revolve around the earth and good and evil struggle with each other. Music and excerpts from her compositions and writings deepen the spiritual and natural philosophical dimension of her visions.
Produced by Margot E. Fassler and designed by Christian Jara and Brian Wolff, the programme combines music, art and spirituality into a fascinating exploration of the medieval worldview.
