Autumn 89 – On the Streets of Leipzig

Game station in the exhibition “Roads not Taken. Oder: Es hätte auch anders kommen können”

The game station “Autumn 89 – On the streets of Leipzig” invites to take part in an interactive graphic novel and to assume the role of one of seven persons participating in the peaceful protests on 9 October 1989 in Leipzig.

On that day, more than 70,000 people took to the streets to protest against the GDR regime. Many were afraid the state would violently suppress the demonstration. The events that were to go down in history as key moments in the “ Peaceful Revolution” were by no means to be expected. They were the result of concrete decisions and actions, and partly of happenstance as well. In the graphic novel the course of this historically significant day can be re-enacted and influenced by your own decisions.
