The concept of nature has been and continues to be the subject of ongoing social and political debate. What does ornithology have to do with Auschwitz? How can bees be used for war propaganda? To what extent did the theory of evolution challenge the existing social order? Objects such as paper models of radiolarians, a transport box for botanical collections, and a 16th-century fishing treaty from Constance provide food for thought and open up space for discursive debates about the changing relationship between humans and nature. The tour highlights the multi-layered meaning of the concept of nature in historical debates, in politics and everyday life, as well as in literature and culture. Thematic focal points can be set by arrangement.
