I met Harry, who wanted a picture of me. I had so much on my mind, but I gave in and told him that I would give him one. I went back, selected a picture and gave it to him. Because of the Sabbath, I didn’t want to sign it, I told him, if you want, I’ll sign it in the evening. In the evening, he came again with the picture, and I was so absent-minded that I wrote down my address. He looked and asked, puzzled, what I had written there. In the light of a torch, I saw my mistake. I wanted to take the picture back, but he didn’t want to. We argued for a bit, but half an hour later everything was forgotten. It was said that we can only take with us what we’re wearing. As a result, I put on all my things, so that I could hardly move. At night, I didn’t lie down, in contrast to the others. I sat on the bundles and looked at the beautiful starry sky. This night was so beautiful. Miss Donáth came and asked me to accompany her to the toilet. I accompanied her.
This was the first time ever since I’ve been there that I didn’t see a queue in front of the toilet. People in the brickyard were woken up at quarter past four. Usually, quarter past four was still nighttime. And today, this time meant morning, the morning prior to a big day. We stood there until 8 and waited for the order to carry the luggage to the train.
