Mary Fulbrook and Edward Kissi in conversation; moderated by Julia Voss

For almost 100 years, discussions have raged about the parallels and differences between colonial and Nazi violence. What is the historical background of these often politically driven debates? What perspectives come to light on the similarities and continuities, but also the ruptures and limitations of these two systems? On what empirical evidence are these discussions based?

Science historian Julia Voss speaks with Mary Fulbrook, Professor of German History at University College London and author of such books as Reckonings: Legacies of Nazi Persecution and the Quest for Justice and Bystander Society. Conformity and Complicity in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, and historian Edward Kissi, Professor of Africana Studies at the School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies, University of South Florida, and author, among other works, of Outside Looking In: The World Universalises the Holocaust and Africans and the Holocaust: Perceptions and Responses of Colonised and Sovereign Peoples.

The discussion will take place in German and English with simultaneous interpretation.
