On 1 September 1939, the German Wehrmacht invaded Poland, marking the beginning of the Second World War. The thematic tour focuses on the National Socialist occupation and the Polish resistance. Through selected objects, it tells the story of Warsaw’s reconstruction after the destruction of the city and its cultural heritage. It also deals with the difficult question of whose cultural heritage in post-war Poland was considered as national heritage and how the Jews, who stood in the margins of the national narrative in Poland, had to themselves see to the protection of their own heritage. The tour invites you to reflect on memory, blind spots, and the politics of history in post-war Poland.
